Standard features of the multimedia system COMAND include an integrated radio, the COMAND controller, a telephone keypad, a colour display, an MP3-compatible DVD player and a PCMCIA card slot. The music search facility helps you to find track titles and the Gracenote® music database supplies information on albums and artists.

The COMAND controller and COMAND function buttons are ergonomically arranged on the centre console. All relevant information is shown in the COMAND display, a high-definition 20.3-cm 16:9 TFT colour screen positioned in the driver's central field of vision. This ensures that you never lose sight of your central settings.

Offering numerous navigation, communication and entertainment functions, the multimedia system COMAND APS with intuitive menu navigation and optimised LINGUATRONIC voice-operated control system is available as an option (standard equipment with CL 600 and CL 65 AMG). Functions of particular interest to the driver include an improved 40 GB hard disk navigation system, map display, and automatic traffic jam tracker (TMC Pro) with alternative route calculation.

With the optional front entertainment package, COMAND APS features innovative SPLITVIEW monitor technology. This makes it possible to show different content for driver and front passenger on the large COMAND display. While the driver uses the navigation mode, for example, the front passenger can watch a film. The respective content can be viewed from one side only.

The Bluetooth® interface and connections in the glove compartment (USB, UCI and Aux-In) allows you to connect your mobile multimedia equipment to the vehicle's audio system. Using the optional Interface Kit, you can also hook up your iPod®. You can use the multifunction steering wheel and multifunction display to select your favourite music on the move.

The Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system (standard equipment for CL 600 and CL 65 AMG) included in the optional front entertainment package offers a new dimension in listening pleasure, allowing you to recreate a concert-hall experience in the CL at the press of a button.

The basis for the system's outstanding sound quality is the 13-channel DSP amplifier. The music is distributed at 600 W to 13 high-performance speakers. In combination with the Dolby Digital 5.1 system and DST, you are guaranteed an unforgettable surround-sound experience at every seat.

An additional novelty: the surround sound system can enable media and music formats such as DVD-audio to sound in full digital quality. The processor controls the optimum reproduction of soundtracks and sound effects. For this, the system covers the entire band width, reproducing even the finest nuances. The Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system can transform conventional stereo recordings in surround-sound quality and produces a 360º sound quality, independently of loudspeaker position.
