Comprising an all-round air suspension and the Adaptive Damping System ADS, the optional AIRMATIC package delivers a smooth, refined drive. The systems automatically govern the effect of the shock absorbers at each wheel and adapt them to the current road, load and driving characteristics. This reduces roll and pitch movement, e.g. when cornering quickly or on poor road surfaces. The driver can also switch manually between comfortable and sporty settings. When necessary, the system can switch independently to a more rigid option – for example, when the driver has to make an evasive manoeuvre. The vehicle height can be regulated at the push of a button: on poor sections of the road, the vehicle height can be raised by 50 mm and, at higher speeds, it is automatically lowered by 20 mm – for increased driving stability and reduced air resistance. Even when the vehicle is loaded, the ground clearance remains constant thanks to the level control system.

All models are equipped with the Direct-Steer system. Its characteristic features include an extremely precise steering response that gives the driver an accurate feel for driving conditions. Mechanical adjustment of steering column height and length is standard with the system. The optional memory package also includes electrical steering column adjustment.
