The high-performance engine of the new SL 63 AMG is built to deliver dynamic performance while neglecting neither economy nor ecology. It offers breathtaking acceleration and outstanding performance for the most demanding driver.

The innovative BlueDIRECT V6 engine that powers the SL 350 was developed using lightweight materials consistently. It features spray-guided direct petrol injection with piezo injectors, four valves per cylinder and adjustable intake and exhaust camshafts.

Through these future-oriented technologies a maximum of performance and efficiency can be achieved.

The BlueDIRECT 8-cylinder engine in the new SL 500 Roadster vouches for effortless superiority in every driving situation. A whole series of innovative technologies ensure reduced consumption and significantly higher output, with lower engine displacement.

• Technological highlights: consistent lightweight construction, moderate downsizing to a displacement of 4.7 litres, direct injection with highly precise piezo injectors.
• Consistent pulling power: turbocharging with charge-air cooling provide a consistently high output and significantly improved torque.
• Convincing output figures: with its BlueDIRECT engine, the new SL 500 develops impressive 435 hp and a stunning peak torque of 700 Newton-metres. This dynamism, markedly increased over its forerunner model, goes hand in hand with fuel consumption figures up to around 27 percent lower and correspondingly reduced CO2 emissions.

The new SL 63 AMG is powered by the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine. This dynamically responsive unit delivers, in conjunction with the AMG performance package, an impressive output of 537 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. The AMG performance package makes a top speed of up to 300 km/h possible. A glance at the torque curve shows: no other engine of this output class can reach the values developed by this new AMG unit.

The new SL 65 AMG is the most powerful vehicle of the current model series thanks to the AMG 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine, the unit features excellent output figures and sophisticated innovative technology.
